Family Blessing

“Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways, you shall eat the fruit of the labour of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. your wife will be like fruitful vine within your house; your children will like olive shoots around your table” (Psalm 128:1-3)ESV

There is double blessing for those who serve the Lord; Their blessings extend to members of their family. The word of God says it shall be well with you; also your wife and children benefit from God’s blessings resulting from your reverence to the LORD. Imagine what will happen if you encourage your family and motivate them to serve the Lord also. It will result in bandwagon of blessings.

In Psalm 127:3, the Scripture says, ‘Behold children are the heritage of the LORD, and the fruit of the womb a reward’ ‘Blessed is everyone who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with the enemies in the gate’ (Psalm 128:5)ESV.

Do you see your children as a burden or as a blessing?

If you train up your children well, they will be a defence for you with time. They will care for you and shield you from societal ill that is common now in many places.

It is important that you give your children both spiritual and physical support. You should provide inspiration for them and teach them to look up to God for direction and help. Don’t leave them to learn the basic things of life from other people who you don’t know. There are many of such all over the community.

You must never harass your children; they may become strangers to you and even run away from you and your house. You may lose them to drugs, alcohol and immorality. This is because they will seek comfort from those things.

It is important to know that children, no matter their gender, are blessings from the Lord. If you reverence the Lord, you must appreciate his gifts. You must not be involved in domestic violence. There are legal consequences and it is socially unacceptable. Don’t hit your spouse for any reason and avoid bullying them.

It is important to give attention to learning how to take care of your home. Ignorance is deadly; avoid it.

How to overcome “a hellish week vacation”

It is very common to find people who had a great day in their church service on Sundays but who ended up having what I liken to a “hellish week vacation”. That is, they had their week full of contentions from the pit of hell. The enemy bombarded them with all manners of trouble. The great Sunday service blessings were never sustained nor profitable during the week. The scripture says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Heb.4:12-16. (KJV).

The devil is historically and presently noted for wrestling the promises of God from people, and distorting the word of God so that those who initially received it with joy get confused and lose out altogether (see Genesis 3).

The devil lets loose the demons to heap up troubles to ruin people’s day.

– You win by holding on to the faithfulness of God and the integrity of the word of God. God is more committed to helping you than you can ever understand. The just live by faith, according to the word of God.

– Pray on and never give up. The word says, “pray without ceasing”

– Keep up praise and thanksgiving. It wins battles always.

– Call out to someone to pray along with you. It is never a weakness.

– Plead the blood of Jesus. It is a winner any day.

– Be strong and bold. These challenges are not new and God has overcome them every time in people’s lives.

– Hold on to your confession of the victory won by the Lord. Your word is very important for now and your future. Avoid foolish talk by all means.

Now is the right time to start on this; it may be tough at the beginning but you will soon see significant victory breaking forth on you and your situation.

I am here as a friend.

God bless you.

What is in your heart – You will become just that!

You are limited by the thoughts of your heart and the words of your mouth. Be careful!

It may happen now or later but it certainly happens that what you allow to dominate your thoughts and talk about especially concerning your life and your situations are just going to become your reality. The scripture says in Mathew 9:920-22,

“And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.”
This woman concluded in her heart what she wanted out of her encounter with Jesus and she got it.

It is important that you monitor your thoughts and your words. Don’t say things you have not thought through. Watch what people say about you and reject every evil word spoken to you or about you.

The word of God says:

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.” Isaiah 54:18 (KJV)

Jesus is our righteousness and evil words of people against us will amount to nothing and will be frustrated. This is our heritage.

God bless you.

The Shout of a King

Then the Lord met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, “Go back to Balak, and thus you shall speak.” So he came to him, and there he was, standing by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab were with him. And Balak said to him, “What has the Lord spoken?”

Then he took up his oracle and said: “Rise up, Balak, and hear!

The Shout of a King

The Shout of a King

Listen to me, son of Zippor!

“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Behold, I have received a command to bless;
He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

“He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, nor has He seen wickedness in Israel.
The Lord his God is with him, and the shout of a King is among them.

God brings them out of Egypt; He has strength like a wild ox. “For there is no sorcery against Jacob, nor any divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘Oh, what God has done!’ Look, a people rises like a lioness, And lifts itself up like a lion; It shall not lie down until it devours the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain.” Then Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all!” So Balaam answered and said to Balak, “Did I not tell you, saying, ‘All that the Lord speaks, that I must do’?” Numbers. 23:16-26

Hearing from God – Do You Know the Witch of Endor Also?

“The Philistines assembled and camped in Shunem. Saul also assembled the whole Israelite army, and they camped at Gilboa. When Saul looked at the Philistine army, he was very afraid—terrified. He prayed to the Lord, but the Lord didn’t answer him through dreams, the Urim, or prophets. Saul told his officers, “Find me a woman who conjures up the dead. Then I’ll go to her and ask for her services.”

His officers told him, “There is a woman at Endor who conjures up the dead.”

After disguising himself by putting on other clothes, Saul left with two men and came to the woman that night. He said to her, “Please consult with a dead person for me. Conjure up the person I request.”

The woman told him, “You know that Saul rid the land of mediums and psychics. Why are you trying to trap me and have me killed?”” 1 Samuel 28:4-9 (GW)

You might not know how much people know until you ask for “help anyhow”! Saul was in “big trouble” and “he needed help anyhow”. He wanted to know the outcome of the battle he was going into. He wanted to know the future; he wanted to hear from God. God did not answer him and in his desperation, he asked his followers if the knew someone who can conjure up the dead.

The scripture says, “Saul inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him, either through dreams or Urim or through prophets. Saul told his servants, “Find me a woman who is a medium so I can go to her and make my inquiry through her.” His servants told him, “Look, there’s a woman at Endor who is a medium.” (NIV)

His servant knew one at Endor. “His officers know a woman at Endor” (GW).

Do you know the witch at Endor also? Do you know the hidden places where people go to seek the future?

Many people don’t care how they arrive at a solution and from whom it comes from. They will tell you, “The end justifies the means”. They believe in “solve the problem and colour the testimony”. God is not enough, as far as they are concerned.

Is God enough for you?

You may be surprised how many people in “church” who know “places”, like the servants (officers) of Saul knew. Some year ago I engage someone in a discussion while on evangelism and I could not believe the things I heard. He told me awful things some people engaged in to grow a church. The discussion was as a result of an incident that happened when I pastored a church then. We engaged a local builder to build a shade for us and he was to raise a section as an altar. When I went to the church in the evening to see how much work he had done, I found him waiting for me to know what he should put in the altar place; why? I asked him. He told me some “stories”. I told him to complete the job, I don’t have anything to put there. There should not be anything there. Since that time, I had been told several stories. Horrible tales!

Do you know the man or woman of Endor? Saul did not get away with it, and God is not partial. It is a shame to deceive other people but it is repulsive to deceive one’s self.

God is enough for those who trust him. It doesn’t matter what is achieved, serving God with the powers of darkness does not suffice.

Hearing From God – Beware of the “Old Prophet”!

” 1. A man of God from Judah had come to Bethel. When he arrived, Jeroboam was standing at the altar to offer a sacrifice. By a command of the Lord, this man condemned the altar. “Altar, altar! This is what the Lord says: There will be a son born in David’s family line. His name will be Josiah. Here on you Josiah will sacrifice the priests from the illegal worship sites who offer sacrifices on you. Human bones will be burned on you.”

That day the man of God also gave them a miraculous sign, saying, “This is the sign that the Lord will give you: You will see the altar torn apart. The ashes on it will be poured on the ground.”

When King Jeroboam heard the man of God condemning the altar in Bethel, he pointed to the man across the altar. “Arrest him,” he said. But the arm that he used to point to the man of God was paralyzed so that he couldn’t pull it back. The altar was torn apart, and the ashes from the altar were poured on the ground. This was the miraculous sign the man of God performed at the Lord’s command.

Then the king asked the man of God, “Please make an appeal to the Lord your God, and pray for me so that I can use my arm again.” So the man of God made an appeal to the Lord, and the king was able to use his arm again, as he had earlier.

The king told the man of God, “Come home with me; have something to eat and drink, and I will give you a gift.”

The man of God told the king, “Even if you gave me half of your palace, I would never go with you to eat or drink there. When the Lord spoke to me, he commanded me not to eat or drink or go back on the same road I took.” 10 So the man of God left on another road and didn’t go back on the road he had taken to Bethel.

11 An old prophet was living in Bethel. His sons told him everything the man of God did in Bethel that day and the exact words he had spoken to the king. When they told their father, 12 he said to them, “Which road did he take?” (His sons had seen which road the man of God from Judah had taken.) 13 The old prophet told his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” After they had saddled the donkey for him, he got on it.

14 He went after the man of God and found him sitting under an oak tree. The old prophet asked him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?”

“Yes,” he answered.

15 “Come home with me, and eat a meal,” the old prophet replied.

16 The man of God said, “I’m not allowed to go back with you. I’m not allowed to eat or drink with you. 17 When the Lord spoke to me, he told me not to eat or drink there or go back on the road I took to get there.”

18 The old prophet said, “I’m also a prophet, like you. An angel spoke the word of the Lord to me. He said, ‘Bring him home with you so that he may have something to eat and drink.’” (But the old prophet was lying.)

19 The man of God went back with him and ate and drank in his home. 20 When they were sitting at the table, the Lord spoke his word to the old prophet who had brought back the man of God. 21 The Lord also called to the man of God. He said, “This is what the Lord says: You rebelled against the words from the Lord’s mouth and didn’t obey the command that the Lord your God gave you. 22 You came back, ate, and drank at this place about which he told you, ‘Don’t eat or drink there.’ That is why your dead body will not be allowed to be placed in the tomb of your ancestors.”

23 After the old prophet had something to eat and drink, he saddled the donkey for the prophet whom he had brought back. 24 The man of God left. A lion found him as he traveled on the road and killed him. His dead body was thrown on the road. The donkey and the lion were standing by the body. 25 People who passed by saw the body lying on the road and the lion standing by the body. They talked about it in the city where the old prophet was living.

26 When the old prophet who had brought the man of God back from the road heard about it, he said, “It’s the man of God who rebelled against the words from the Lord’s mouth! The Lord gave him to the lion. It tore him to pieces and killed him as the word of the Lord had told him.”

27 Then the old prophet told his sons to saddle his donkey for him. So they did.

28 He found the body of the man thrown on the road. He also found the donkey and the lion standing beside it. The lion had not eaten the body, nor had it torn the donkey to pieces. 29 The old prophet picked up the body of the man of God, laid it on the donkey, and brought it back. He came to his own city to mourn for him and to bury him. 30 He laid the body of the man of God in his own tomb and mourned over the man, saying, “Oh no, my brother, my brother!” 31 After he had buried the man of God, he said to his sons, “When I die, bury me in the tomb where the man of God was buried. Lay my bones beside his bones. 32 The things that he announced by a command of the Lord against the altar in Bethel and all the illegal worship sites in the cities of Samaria will happen.” 1 Kings 13:1-32 (GW)

  • The old prophet seeks to be relevant. He wants to be part of every move of God. He “wants to show leadership” at whatever cost including propagation of lies and deceit.
  • The old prophet wants to bring every one “under his canopy”. You must be part of his “great call” or you are nothing. If you are not part of his caucus you are of “no significance”.
  • The old prophet, in the passage above, ruined the life of a young man and quenched his light.
  • You are responsible for the word God spoke to you. Seeking for approval of men and acceptance has been the demise of many people who carried great message and great anointing. Seeking for commendation of men can sometimes, destroy a person, so avoid it. Many messages and ministries have been compromised by attempts to draw people to join in the work.

Beware! There are still many old prophets in this age.
